I was able to meet my sweet little second cousin last week. She was only 11 days old and as cute as a button. Ever since I had Saylor, I get super attached to other baby girls. I had a little mini session with Anistyn (love that name!) catching her precious little newborn rolls and softness.

It’s no secret to my friends and family that I really enjoy the slow season of January and February after a crazy holiday rush. I look forward to it. I regroup, replan, reorganize. I take time to do nothing. I read more. It’s absolutely wonderful for my family and me. However, by the time March hits I am just ITCHING to go out and expel some creative energy. I can’t wait for those first sessions to come. I look forward to the spring bloom and the warmer weather. Nick and Kristen were one of my first “spring” sessions. When they originally booked us for their wedding I was thinking “burrrr! A March wedding.” What we didn’t expect was it to be 75 and sunny that day. We had this crazy midwest thaw with unseasonably warm temps and I was THRILLED. That day I had my very talented and creative sister-in-law, Vanessa, come and assist as my second shooter. Nick and Kristen are such a neat couple. They were so comfortable with each other, if I wouldn’t have known I would have thought they’d been married for years already. The whole wedding party was such a fun group. They weren’t afraid to be a little crazy and try new things, and in fact this was one of my first weddings that the guys came up with several poses. Kuddos to them for their creativity!

Overall the day was a success. I personally am very happy with the pictures as they flow nicely and really capture the true essence of the couple.

New Jersey | Personal

I know I’m behind. I really have no excuse except for the gorgeous weather outside (hello, 80′s in march, yes I won’t be inside today). Here is another part to our New Jersey trip and I have a feeling there will be much more pictures of NJ as we spend some time there this summer. I especially loved the Subway ones, mostly because they just feel gritty and just remind me how tired we were and how much the boys loved the subway. At one time someone asked US for directions. That made me so proud of my husband for being an amazing navigator. I seriously am not sure I ever paid attention to what we were doing or where we were going, I just followed. He just has that way about him to figure things out. He might be the first husband that doesn’t really ever have to ask for directions… just give him a few minutes to “get his bearings” as he says and wallah! we are found again.

I just LOVE this baby. She is an easy smiler (a GREAT baby trait). She seems to have a very sweet personality and is funny to be around (her little babbling, her cute facial expressions). Babies this age just bring so much personality and laughter to a session

Happy Birthday Ridge | Personal

Three years ago today I delivered a 9 lb 2 oz baby much to my shock. Ridge Calahan was born on March second and is the sweetest little thing. Sure he has his very ornery moments but I’m pretty sure he gets those from Crew. We are so thankful for this happy-go-lucky, silly boy. And he gets an amazing birthday present today…his grandpa and grandma are coming home from Africa! We are so excited for such a wonderful fun filled day! These were taken this week during the really unseasonably warm day we had. Shirtless in February, in the midwest…yes!! Anyone who knows Ridge, knows this is so him. Praising the Lord for the precious middle child he gave us.

New York…Post 2 | Personal

So while we were out visiting the grand city of Clifton, we were able to head on over to the Big Apple. It was only a stone’s throw away and we were constantly enjoying the good views of the city. On Saturday we rode the Weehawken ferry over to the city. I really think we probably could have just rode the ferry’s and the subway and the kids would have been thrilled. We did however want to do some other things. We visited the Intrepid aircraft carrier which was really interesting and neat. It made me so thankful for all those who fight daily for our freedoms. It also made me feel sick and a little ashamed to think of all the times we complain about little tiny things (e.g “I can’t believe she hasn’t refilled my drink yet…” while they (and their families) are sacrificing their lives/hopes/dreams. If anyone has a chance to visit, its a neat experience. The kids really enjoyed seeing all the “bomber airlplanes” and war movies.

whew. what. a. whirlwind.

so what’s new over here?

For the last 4 weeks Andy has been working out of New Jersey. 2 of those weeks he commuted back and forth only on the weekends. The other two weeks we went with him. All 5 of us, in a hotel room, for 2 weeks… you do the math. While we were there, we traveled into NYC twice (we were super close) and I will share some pictures from those times later, went to a play place thing, went to walmart a few times, went to the laundromat a couple times, swam, moved hotels, went to the mall, learned how to drive in crazy traffic, and learned a BIG lesson on patience, and perspective.

Saylor girl also learned a few things…namely how to grow teeth (got two while we were there), how to crawl, and how to pull her self up. She also started “deedle-ing” which basically is everytime she is crying or happy she just says “deedle deedle deedle”. Her grandpa (Allen) thinks she has a future in yodeling. Sounds promising.
